Some parks provide a serene and tranquil setting where you can enjoy passive recreational pursuits while others boast a variety of active recreational facilities. Waterfront Parks Strategy Mississauga has 22 waterfront parks that vary in size, use and features.To ensure we maintain a sustainable waterfront parks system, the City of Mississauga is developing a "Waterfront Parks Strategy" that will provide clear direction on how to improve upon existing links, amenities, features and uses. Public input is a huge component of this strategy, and all residents are encouraged to get involved in the process. Details Lakefront Parks Mississauga lakefront parks are becoming the jewels of the waterfront. The City has been developing and upgrading lakefront parks for many years. Many of our lakefront parks feature a variety of facilities and opportunities for recreational activities including: trails for hiking, cycling and in-line skating; splash pads; fishing opportunities; beach volleyball; photo opportunities and large open spaces suitable for a variety of recreational activities. Picnic Parks Every year more than 200,000 people enjoy picnic areas in Mississauga's major picnic parks. Our picnic parks offer the perfect place to host your next family or company picnic. Large open space provide an excellent opportunity for group recreational activities. Groups of 25 or less are welcome to use our picnic areas without having to obtain a permit. However groups in excess of 25 are required to obtain a Park Permit. Park permits are also required for all wedding photography. Trails Mississauga's extensive trail system offers everyone the perfect way to get active. Trails can be used for walking, cycling, jogging, inline skating and even cross country skiing during the winter months.
